Refund Policy

The HCC Bookstore will happily process a request for a full refund on a purchase, provided that the items are returned to the Bookstore during the first two weeks of a semester and accompanied by the original sales receipt and a photo ID issued by a governmental agency.

  1. Textbooks (new or used) must be in there original resalable condition. If purchased new, no markings of any kind. If purchased in a package (shrink wrapped), the package must be unopened. New textbooks that are damaged (marked in or opened) will be refunded at the used textbook price.
  2. General merchandise must be returned in the original unopened package. Opened items can only be exchanged as a defective item.
  3. Textbooks and general merchandise returned between the third (3rd) and fifth (5th) week of classes are subject to a 20% restocking fee.
  4. Beginning the 6th week of class, all textbooks are considered used and no refund will be granted. Used textbooks may be sold at the Bookstore Buyback counter.
  5. Beginning the third (3rd) week of the semester, all sales on textbooks and merchandise are considered final. The Bookstore will exchange defective textbooks or merchandise with a like item.

The HCC Bookstore will assist students who cannot produce the original receipt by processing a return in the following manner. However, the student will need to bring a current course schedule reflecting the course corresponding to the textbook.

  1. During the first (1st) and second (2nd) weeks of the semester the Bookstore will set up a store credit (less 10%) for the student.
  2. Between the third (3rd) and fifth (5th) week of the semester, the Bookstore will set up a store credit (less 20%) for the student.
  3. Beginning the sixth (6th) week of the semester, all textbooks are considered used and no refund will be granted. Used textbooks may be sold at the Bookstore Buyback counter.
  4. Beginning the third (3rd) week of the semester all sales on textbooks and general merchandise are considered final. The Bookstore will exchange defective textbooks or merchandise with a like item.
